Project consisted of the structural upgrade of an existing double-circuit 69kV transmission line to withstand extreme ice loading caused by cooling tower exhaust from an adjacent generating plant. Several design options were analyzed to solve repeated conductor flashovers and structure overload conditions. Additional structures were installed during a scheduled transmission outage which solved the flashover and overload problems.
Engineering services included:
- Structure strength analysis
- Transmission line structure design
- Foreign utility coordination
- Material procurement
- Bidding & contract documents
- Construction observation
- Transmission switching coordination
- Record drawings
